seeing life differently

2020 | Exploring storytelling and film direction through a surreal short film about routine and dreams.

Seeing Life Differently short film still Rotterdam Business School project

The Assignment

Second year at Rotterdam Business School, film elective class.

The brief: create an original short film that demonstrates understanding of cinematic storytelling techniques.

The Concept

Working with two classmates, we developed a story exploring themes of routine, connection, and reality. The narrative follows someone trapped in monotonous daily life who experiences a transformative encounter that challenges everything they know about their existence.

The Execution

We handled all aspects of production, scriptwriting, directing, cinematography, and editing. The challenge was conveying psychological complexity through visual storytelling rather than dialogue, using film techniques to create atmosphere and guide audience interpretation.

The Result

A surreal short film that plays with perception and reality, demonstrating our ability to work collaboratively on creative projects outside our core business studies. The final piece showed we could translate abstract concepts into concrete visual narratives.
